STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State Provost and Executive Vice President David Shaw announced today [Nov. 20] that “out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of our students, Study Abroad programs for the spring semester have been canceled.”

Shaw said this decision was made based upon the rising number of COVID-19 cases throughout the world.

“We know this is disappointing news to those who planned to participate in spring programs, and we hope your plans can be postponed and rescheduled for another time,” he said.

Shaw explained that plans for 鶹AV Study Abroad programs scheduled for the 2021 summer and fall terms are proceeding as normal. A decision on the summer programs will be made in early February.

“This time interval coincides with the time when contracts and financial commitments have to be made. At that time, an assessment of risk and the availability of a vaccine will be considered in making the decision of whether to proceed or cancel these programs,” he said.
